US and Japanese bond yields sink to record lows

Treasury yields hit record lows on Tuesday followed by a slide in the Japanese long bond yields to record lows today as investors continue to pour money into safe haven assets after Britain’s vote to leave the EU.

The US 10-year Treasury note dipped to a record low of 1.370% as prices rose. The 30-year yield also hit a record low. Even the 50-year yield on the Swiss government bonds have been flirting with the negative territory. Meanwhile, in the UK, the 10-year gilt fell to a record low of 0.789%.

In Japan, the yield on the 10-year government bond hit a record low minus 0.262% today. The yield on the 20-year note fell to zero for the first time ever. Yield on 10-year Australian bonds hit a record low 1.849%.
