USD/JPY hits fresh lows below 119.00

FXStreet (Córdoba) - USD/JPY broke below previous lows and tumbled to 118.84, fresh 1-week low. Currently the pair is hovering around 119.00, 160 pips below yesterday’s closing price.

Greenback is having the worst day against the Japanese currency in two weeks and erased in a few hours last week gains. The US dollar is the worst performer in the forex market so far on Tuesday.

The yen remains near daily highs across the board, supported by risk aversion and falling US government bond yields. In Wall Street, the Dow Jones is dropping 0.30% while the Nasdaq declines 0.35%; European stock markets are losing more than 1%.

EUR/USD consolidates near daily highs

EUR/USD is going through a consolidation phase after recovering from a fresh 29-month low, but still capped by the 100-hour SMA, with a disappointing reading US consumer confidence having little impact on the dollar.
